Creatively Beautified Home

It's been quite some time since I've logged on to my website.. It's been a year in fact, ohh my!
There is a good reason for this.. Health, home and family.
In an earlier blog I talked about my Gallbladder experience and that I would update you in regards to it. I also mentioned our home which I would write about.
This past year all my focus has been on my health, my family and helping my husband build our home. Sewing unfortunately had to be put on hold in order for this to happen relatively stress free!
I have three munchkins whom are growing up so quickly. Which is why when I decided to make garments, I would only do it in my spare time!
I've produced a handful of garments while my youngest was in utero and during his nap times. These garments were given out as birthday gifts or newborn gifts etc. They are also patterns I've tested from very favoured pattern makers. Gorgeous outfits I will make many times over! Outfits I have made from pattern designers I favour or have discovered will be found here.
There are some beautiful designs I will not pass up making when I see the perfect fabric but for now my focus will be on my own designs I've drawn up. I have loads of fabric to pattern test with and look forward to mailing some test garments out to friends and family. Now that I have a dedicated space for sewing, I can enjoy making items without having to quickly tidy up the workspace for family use! I aim to have a nice pile of garments to sell in 2020 through the Creatively Beautify website.

Why does everything take so long?? Well that's just life! Life just happens! Events arise that prevent you from moving forward or put a halt to your dreams or desires.
That doesn't mean it wont happen, it will as long as you hold on to it! And that's what I have done. Over the last few years I've had a health scar, an addition to the family as well as putting blood sweat and tears into helping my Husband build our house. I will enjoy making it a home we will treasure for a life time and hopefully generations to come!

Over seven years ago Michael decided he had enough of Suburbia and was on the hunt for some land with or without a house on it. So the hunt began and it was quickly decided that we were moving up north to the countryside. Living in Newcastle at the time, it was very difficult to leave the convenience of all the facilities near by and most of all my friends and family! Three years later and after every family trip it was nice to be back home in the country. We still didn't have our home I must say! We bought a little over 2 acres of land and needed to build a house.
For the first 3 years we went through many changes in house design and method of build. Finally in 2015 we committed to owner building and began excavations.
This was around the time we planned are wedding, I began my modest clothing dream, we decided to have another baby and I fell ill!! The last few years have been a challenge to get us where we are but not without love and joy. Most weekends and spare time we traveled from our rental to work on the landscape and build the house.
Any owner builder or DIY renovator knows how challenging and rewarding it is to build your home with your own two hands. You would also appreciate the time it takes and great relief to finally be living in it. We still have loads to do and will have plenty of fun beautifying our home and land.
2019 feels like a good year to continue to move forward in both health, family and home life. My health this year is improving. You can follow on in this blog, My Life After Gallbladder Surgery. Family time is more achievable now that we have our weekends back. I can put more time and energy into Creatively Beautify and my joy of landscaping is exploding with excitement now that I can just step out the door and plant trees!!

Below are some images of what I am calling our 'Stage 1' home. Our first landscaping ideas began with our front slope which has changed over the years. Not living on the property to keep weeds down and water plants all the time, it has been interesting to see what survives on the land. We are still chipping away at tasks but it is so lovely to be here and do that when we like. 'Stage 2' we will have our kitchen and floor in (currently secondhand/temporary), built-ins will be done, bathroom finished etc etc. As I said loads to do! 'Stage 3' we will have our entertainment area complete. Outdoor kitchen, bbq, pizza oven, fire-pit, toilet, shower the works. Then we hope to build the dream house before the kids are teenagers as this home has only two rooms for a family of 5!!
Over the years I will be posting about our landscape and plants we use to beautify our home and land. I have many plans I hope will eventuate like a maze for the kids, raised vegetable gardens, retaining wall herb gardens, kiwi pergola, grapevine courtyard, giant chessboard using stepables and pavers, mini soccer field, cubby house the list goes on.
My priority is to incorporate as many edible plants and tress into the landscape as possible to feed our boys while they play!
Stay Tuned
